One of the branches in the field of medicine is biomedicine. This field takes a different approach to clinical practice through biological and physiological principles. Biomedicines as a branch of medicine mainly applies to biology and physiology. This field does not only apply to medical science but also other fields mainly related to biology and health.

Many subspecialties fall under biomedicine, especially those that bear the bio prefix. Some of them include biological engineering, biostatistics, cytogenetics, genetics, biotechnology, virology, pathology, anatomy, cell biology, physiology, toxicology, and molecular biology among many others. Most of these fields have many things in common. In fact, it is simple for a student to switch between them through short transitional courses.

Modern health care as a field together with laboratory diagnostics are built around medical biology. As a field, it is concerned with a wide range of technological and scientific approaches. These methods traverse both physiology and biology. The approaches employed in this field range from understanding interactions at the molecular level to understanding consequences at the level of in vivo. These processes are studied to help to devise new strategies for therapy and diagnosis.

Biomedicine field pinpoints maladies among persons or individuals, plants and animals, and continues to examine them. Through the field, medical mediation methods are created. Biomedicine greatly focuses on refining the health of the persons affected or entity unlike the entire medicine field. For medicine field, focuses on healing the diagnosed maladies the person suffers from. .

In biomedicine molecular biology is among the most important branches. This branch specifies in the process of amalgamating and controlling RNA, protein, and DNA in cells. In molecular biology there are several processes involved such as macromolecule blotting, Gel electrophoresis and polymerase chain reaction. In manipulation of DNA in humans and animals the above are the modus operandi used.

Polymerase chain reaction as a process involves the mixing of nucleotide bases, primers, DNA, and DNA polymerase and then placing them in a special machine. The purpose of the machine is to cool and heat the mixture at varying temperatures. This process makes the hydrogen bonds that binds the DNA together to break, allowing nucleotide bases to add themselves on the DNA strands. This creates a new DNA strand template.

Another method utilized in molecular biology is Gel electrophoresis. This method makes it possible to identify same DNA in samples of unknown DNA. This technique entails the formulation of an agarose gel which has wells where DNA is poured before applying an electric current. After the above procedure is done, the DNA strands get attracted to the positive electrode but this is conditional to the protein groupings contained in the DNA.

The speed at which DNA strands move to the positively charged electrode usually vary because the strands are of different sizes. It is possible to tell if two strands are similar from the pattern they exhibit in their movement. Similar strands will tend to move at the same speed and have the same pattern.
