Deciding Whether A Cavachon Puppy For Sale Is A Good Fit For You

By Jason Nelson

Pets can make great additions to families. Not only are they faithful companions, but they offer unconditional love and acceptance. Some, depending on their size and temperament, are excellent guardians. Others are cute, cuddly, and content to curl up beside their owners on a sofa or favorite recliner. If the latter description best fits the kind of dog you are interested in getting, a Cavachon puppy for sale might be right for you.

Cavachons are a hybrid mixture of the Bichon Frise and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They have been bred to combine the energy of one with the gentleness of the other. Since hybrid dogs are not recognized by the pure breed associations, there are no exact standards which genuine Cavachons have to fit into. The color of their coats and eyes may vary, as will the size. There are certain characteristics however that these little animals do universally possess.

These are little animals that only weigh a few pounds as puppies. As adults they usually stand about twelve inches high. This one of the reasons they are so popular with people who live in lofts and apartment complexes. They can be a great breed for retirees who spend a lot of time on the road in their recreational vehicles. Giving Cavachons access to little baskets or other types of enclosures helps make them feel more secure, especially when they are very young.

If you are looking for a ferocious guard dog, this canine will not fit the bill. They are naturally sweet and gentle animals who love to play and run. They are not overly active however. Daily walks usually suffice to keep them stimulated and relaxed. Most Cavachons like a lot of human company, so they often do not do well left to their own devices all day. A retiree or someone who works at home is a good choice for them.

Obedience training is important for any family pet, and Cavachons usually take to lessons naturally. This is especially true when they are young. The dogs want to please and are intelligent. They just have to understand what their owners want from them.

Their health issues tend to be that similar to other small breeds. They are prone to ear infections so owners must diligently clean their ears several times a week and be on the lookout for infection. Heart murmurs and fleas allergies have also been reported by Cavachon owners.

Anyone who is going to purchase any pet from a breeder needs to do some careful research first. Since this is a fairly new breed, it may be difficult to find certified breeders. Getting references from current owners is a good idea, but testimonials on websites should be viewed with caution. Inspecting the breeder's kennels and asking about the dog's parentage may help ensure the individual is not operating a mill.

Adding a pet to a family unit can be very rewarding if the animal and family fit well together. Different lifestyles have different needs. Finding the right dog may take time, but it is worth it if the result is a loving and devoted companion.
